  1. LAKE MARY, FLORIDA -- Maynard Electronics, Inc. today announced a price
  2. reduction on its Irwin AccuTrak product line. These new prices, $249 for
  3. the 120MB Irwin AccuTrak drive and $349 for the 250MB Irwin AccuTrak
  4. drive, reflect the lowest list prices of any tape backup systems on the
  5. market today. These new prices also include a previously optional data
  6. cable. This price reduction is effective immediately.

  8. "Irwin AccuTrak products continue to provide the highest levels of
  9. performance, support and value in the DC2000 market," said Chris Tipton,
  10. vice president and general manager of the Irwin Distribution Division of
  11. Maynard. "These new low prices are the result of a modest price reduction
  12. taken by Maynard today and a significant reduction announced in September
  13. 1991, and reflect Maynard's commitment to maintain Irwin AccuTrak
  14. products' lead in the DC2000 market."

  16. Irwin AccuTrak drives, with an installed base of over 1.5 million drives,
  17. are the industry leaders in the DC2000 market. The Irwin Accutrak product
  18. is available in both internal and external configurations for use with
  19. IBM-compatible PC and PS/2 products, and can interchange data with
  20. mini-cartridge tape drives sold by IBM, Compaq, NCR, HP, NEC, Data
  21. General, Zenith and others. Irwin AccuTrak drives also provide support for
  22. UNIX/Xenix systems.

  24. The Irwin AccuTrak product line, bundled with EzTape software, offers
  25. menu-driven displays, unattended backup, and the flexibility to backup an
  26. entire hard disk, selected files, and an unlimited combination of files.
  27. EzTap software is available in versions for DOS, Windows and OS/2, and
  28. supports Novell networks.

  30. This price move comes on the heels of the integration of Irwin's
  31. distribution organization into the Maynard organization. The domestic and
  32. international sales departments of Maynard and Irwin have been combined to
  33. create the largest sales and support organization in the backup industry.

  35. for all backup products.

  49. Electronics, Inc. and Irwin Magnetic Systems, Inc., recently reorganized
  50. Irwin's operations into two divisions to serve the OEM and distribution
  51. markets. As a result of this reorganization, Archive has combined Irwin's
  52. distribution organization with Maynard's organization and will transfer a
  53. portion of Irwin's administrative and support activities to Maynard in
  54. Lake Mary, Florida.

  56. "The customer will reap considerable benefits from this reorganization,"
  57. said George Rea, President of Maynard. "Maynard prides itself on offering
  58. a 'Maynard Everywhere' backup solution across all backup technologies,
  59. capacities and operating platforms. With the addition of the Irwin product
  60. line, we offer increased tape backup support with complete product
  61. offerings designed and priced for both the high-end and the entry-levels
  62. of the market."

  64. The reorganization was made as part of an overall realignment of Archive
  65. into market-dedicated organizations to reduce operating costs and expenses
  66. and to more closely focus the Company's efforts on its OEM and
  67. distribution businesses.

  70. offer the broadest product line in the tape backup market, the best
  71. trained and most experienced support staff in the industry and the most
  72. extensive network of resellers. This will allow Maynard to take advantage

  74. Maynard/Irwin customer base. Product development will take advantage of
